Adopt a Family: During the holiday season, you, your friends and /or colleagues can help a homeless individuals or family with gifts for the season.
Adopt a Room : at our shelters for homeless women and children. Opportunities to underwrite the cost of furnishing a resident's room are available. Contact Kellyann Day for more details: email@example.com 492-4866.
Backpack Drive : Every summer, NHHR conducts a backpack drive. This year we increased our goal to 400 backpacks with supplies for needy children. The number of school aged children we serve increased 48% this year we needed your help more than ever! The contributions of local businesses and individuals made this our most successful backpack drive. The children in all of our programs were able to start school with what they needed to help them succeed!
Casual Day at Work: Ask people for donations of $10 or more to come to work in casual clothes or jeans for one day. People enjoy the opportunity to dress down for a day while being able to help others! It's a great way for a company to support a local charity in an easy way. If your company likes the results, you can consider monthly casual days for charity! Email us for more information.
Bake Sale: Hold a bake sale at your office, school, religious organization or other social group to raise money. You can help others while filling your tummy with homemade treats! Email us for more information.
Candy Sale: Take advantage of your Wholesale Club Memberships and purchase candy in bulk to sell to coworkers, friends, family, etc for $1 a bar. Donate the proceeds! Email us for more information.
Non-Perishable Food Drive: Collect canned goods, pastas, rice and other non-perishable food items for the women and children in our shelters and supportive housing programs. You can help them have continued access to the healthy food supply they need. Be creative! Tie the food drive to another special event like a birthday party, anniversary or a day of giving. Pillow Drive: Every January we conduct a Pillow Drive to collect new pillows for our shelters. Each woman and child deserves clean, fresh pillows to sleep on each night. Keep an eye out for big sales at area department stores! You can get great deals while helping homeless women and children get a good night's sleep. Email us for more information.

Network for Good: Learn about donating and volunteering at New Haven Home Recovery through Network for Good.
United Way Designation: Designate your United Way gift to New Haven Home Recovery. Schedule a time for us to talk to your employees so that they might also be willing to designate their United Way donation. Please reference New Haven Home Recovery and the number N5885 when filling out your United Way pledge form at UnitedWay.Org
NHHR is a participating agency in the Leave a Legacy program. Please contact the Connecticut Council for Philanthropy if you are interested in making a gift that will last.
