Inspiring Hope
Recently at New Haven Home Recovery, we were touched by the stories of two children. One child exemplifies the great need our families face; the other typifies the kind of generosity that supplies our families with help and hope.
We received a request to help a child at a local school. Teachers found him selling his toys from Christmas to fellow classmates. When asked why he was doing this, he said that he was trying to help his dad pay for rent and groceries. New Haven Home Recovery and The Family School Connection program, as well as teachers and staff at his school created a backpack full of school supplies, toiletry items and a Stop & Shop gift card, as well as information on our other support services. This family is now receiving much needed assistance through New Haven Home Recovery.
The second child inspired us at NHHR for her kindheartedness. This remarkable little girl decided that she did not want anyone buying presents for her 7th birthday. Instead, she asked that people donate money to New Haven Home Recovery to help others in need and raised $200 for us. Donations like hers go a long way to support the programs that help the women and children who need it most. Her exemplary character is something for which we at New Haven Home Recovery are grateful.
